Jennifer Coronel is a member of Sauces, one of our partner churches from Guayaquil. She is also an alumni of the Hope of Bastion School. She has been part of Faro de Esperanza, at our Bible Camp Ministry, since 2007 when she first came as a camper. She remembers knowing about God’s love for her in a bonfire at our camp when she was twelve. She keeps that moment in her heart, by the ocean, when she first came to know Jesus, what her condition before God was and what Jesus did for her.
Then, in the year 2015, Jennifer was invited to join our Bible Camp Ministry as part of our staff as junior counselor. She remembers when she shared about Jesus with a camper and that person came to know Jesus, “that has been one of my favorite moments working as staff at FE”, she says.
Since then, Jennifer has played many roles inside our Bible Camp Ministry. When she first got the opportunity to run a week of camp as program director, she recalls how scared she was: “I remember telling Carolina Lucas that I was more than happy to help her in anything she needed but talking in public. But the next day I was already doing that. That year I learned that God can use us even when we think we are not good at something”.
“I have learned —she replays— that serving God is a privilege. He can use many people, but He chooses us. From that I know I need to depend on God to be a better administrator of what He has given me”.
Jennifer hopes for every camper and staff member to be able to know more about God. That this ministry, the Bible Camp Ministry, will be a space where people can make strong decisions for their spiritual life. Also, that this ministry be a door so the people can actually know about the God that loved and saved us.
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:14-15
Jennifer now leads the Bible Camp Ministry as coordinator.
